When we opened up Salty’s, there were already a bunch of great bars and restaurants in Kilifi such as Distant Relatives Ecolodge, Nautilus, and The Terrace Bar and Bistro. What Kilifi didn’t have was a restaurant perfect for people on kitesurfing holidays in Kenya. Salty’s Beach Cafe/Restaurant and Bar is right on Bofa Beach, a beautiful stretch of white powdery sand on the Indian Ocean that is often so empty you could sit for an hour and see only a handful of people. Guests can get straight out of the ocean, towel off, and grab a quick beer and bite before heading back out.
As with a lot of our furniture and construction, Salty’s Cafe is built using refurbished building materials and upcycled wood that blends in with Kilifi’s coastline and gives off a Robinson Crusoe chic vibe. There’s loads of seating areas spread out around the area that prioritise our wide unrestricted view of the Indian Ocean. You could lay back in one of our sunbeds while working on your next project or spend the day lazing away with a book in our handmade hammocks.
